Permaculture

Permaculture is a creative design process based on whole-systems thinking. The ethics earth care, people care and fair share form the foundation for permaculture design and guide the use of the 12 design principles, ensuring that they are used in appropriate ways:

  • Observe and interact
  • Catch and store energy
  • Obtain a yield
  • Apply self-regulation & accept feedback
  • Use & value renewable resources & services
  • Produce no waste
  • Design from patterns to details
  • Integrate rather than segregate
  • Use small and slow solutions
  • Use and value diversity
  • Use edges & value the marginal
  • Creatively use and respond to change

This thinking is then applied to the seven different domains required to create a sustainable culture:

  • Health
  • Economics
  • Governance
  • Agriculture
  • Housing
  • Technology
  • Education
